Hackers was filmed in primarly 2 locations. Exterior shots were almost entirely filmed in New York, with most interior shots being filmed in or around London. HackersCurator spent some time in New York in October of 2018 to find many of these locations. To the best of our ability, we have included these in chronological order according to the film. I used a hand held point and shoot camera, so apologies in advance for photo quality.

--->> OTV Studios <<---
The Manhattan Center was used for OTV Studios and is located at 311 West 34th Street. The interior shots of the automated playback system are, as of yet, unknown.

--->> Dade's NY Apartment <<---
Dade's Apartment is located in the West Village at 31 Grove Street. Though in 1994 the apartment had a lower level entrance, it is currently being converted to a second level entrance. Assuming Dade didnt take the subway, his rollerblade commute to school would have taken about 15-20 minutes.

--->> School <<---
Dade, Kate, Ramon, and Joey all go to Stuyvesant High School at 345 Chambers Street. The entrance shown in the film however is not an entrance. The main halway of the school however looks very much the same today as it did in 1994. From our discussion with the Principal of the school, the "Pool on the roof" prank is still pulled on Freshman. He was however surprised to learn that the origin of this prank was from Hackers, a film he had not known of prior to our visit.

The payphones have since been removed, however the halmarks of their existance still survive in the form of patched holes in the wall.

The Principal's office used for the film, is actually the Principal's office, or more accurately, the Principal's conference room. Much of this room exists today as it did in 1994. The cabinets, table, chairs, and several photos are all still original and in nearly, or exactly, the same place. We were unfortunately not allowed to take photos of the classrooms or class hallways. The hallway that Kate gives Dade a tour of however, we're told, is located on the 8th or 9th floor (both apparently identical in layout).

The stairs seen here by the basketball court are not actually at the highschool. They are however located just across the street at the College. Access to the stairs has at some point been blocked off, is overgrown, and riddled with rogue tennisballs from the tennis court adjacent to the basketball court.

--->> Cyberdelia Exterior <<---
The exterior of Cyberdelia is located at 382 West Broadway in SOHO. It has changed considerably since filming, and currently sits vacant. This building is located just up the street from the restaurant where Gill gets his credit card destroyed. The intereior Cyberdelia shots were filmed on a set built in an empty pool building near London.

All thats missing are street vendors, itching to sell you bootleg Chinese software in any kind of format, on any kind of disk.

--->> Joey's Street <<---
Joey's apartment is located roughly 1 block away from the highschool. Aside from the trees having grown a good deal since filming, everything else is essentially the same.

--->> Ellingson Mineral <<---
The exterior of Ellingson Mineral is actually One Libery Plaza located at 1 Liberty Street. The shot was taken from the corner of Church and Liberty. Entrance into the building is strictly controlled, however that was not an issue as the actual interior shots of Ellingson Mineral were filmed in London at the Lloyd's Building.

--->> Joey's Apartment <<---
This shot of Joey's apartment building is indeed the same apartment building where Joey's bust was filmed.

--->> Chinatown <<---
This is the Kelly Salon in Chinatown at 19 Pell St. This salon was recently seen in early released photos for John Wick 3.

--->> Gill's Restaurant <<---
The restaurant used in this scene is Kenn's Broome Street Bar located on Broome Street and Broadway in SOHO. The bar is within eyesight of the location used for Cyberdelia's exterior. There is a great deal about this bar that has not changed since filming. In fact, almost everything on the cooks station, such as the "Broome St." and "TAKE OUT" signs, as well as the artwork above the door are untouched. TeenPrez and Nandemoguy met up here for an appetizer before checking out Simon Boswell's show in October of 2018.

--->> Garbage File <<---
The park where Joey hands off the Garbage file to Phreak is Washington Square Park. This is the same park where Nikon and Cereal can be seen playing chess later in the film. The fountain is drained in the fall and was empty aside for some skateboarders during filming.

--->> Phreak's Balcony <<---
The Phantom Phreak lives in the 3rd or 4th floor apartment located at 71 Greene Street. Pictured here is the building across the street which is seen when Phreak has his deja vu experience and sees the road littered with police cars.

--->> Disk Handoff <<---
The infamous disk handoff takes place at the intersection of Plymouth and Washington Streets in Brooklyn. This area was quite crowded as it's a really great place to take a photo of the Brooklyn Bridge.

I happened to visit on trash day. Fitting as this is the exact place that the piece of trash Plague came to pick up his garbage (file).

--->> Chess Park <<---
This is Washington Square Park. The same park that Joey hands off the disk to Phantom Phreak. The park has changed somewhat since filming. The chessboards have had a facelift, and the short knee buster wall around the grass sections have been removed.

After receiving the page, Nikon and Cereal leave the park at the corner of Washington and University, skating their way up University toward Park Avenue. They must have taken a very interesting route in order to try to shake their tail, because where they emerge from 23rd street onto Park avenue, would have required that they both zigged and zagged a fair bit out of their way.

--->> The Getaway <<---
The majority of this scene takes place on Park Avenue. Nikon and Cereal start things off by coming from 22nd headed west and turning north onto Park ave.

The church where Gill gets stuck and loses his temper, beating on a poor defenseless automobile, is located on 21st and Park.

The car accident happens at the intersection of 23rd. And the rest all leads up to Grand Central Station.

--->> Grand Central Station <<---
The film climaxes at Grand Central Station.

After somehow getting from the upper level parkway to the main lobby, the team skates down into a tunnel to meet up with Joey.

This tunnel is the tunnel that leads to the "food court".

The food court area has changed a bit since filming, and if the signage that said "To Tracks 104-109" ever existed, I couldnt find it.

During these 3 days, this was all that I was able to capture. I do know the location of Dade's childhood home, however its in New Jersey and would have cost me about $160 bucks roundtrip to take photos. I love all of you, but thats a bit much for me to swallow :). I looked and looked for the exterior shot of Kates apartment, but I believe that the building was demolished sometime in the early 2000s. I also did not get photos of the park that Kate and Dade walk down at the end of the film. Aside from these shortcomings, I feel we did a pretty decent job of getting more of the major shot locations from the film. Perhaps another visit could allow us to get even more granular. Until then, enjoy!
